Dior Nails Sporty Chic for Spring 2025

Dior Nails Sporty Chic for Spring 2025

The intersection of luxury fashion and streetwear hit its peak in the late 2010s and very early 2020s, but if Dior has anything to say about it, high fashion athleisure isn’t dead.

For Spring 2025, Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by the Dior archives and the House’s historic ties to the world of sport and the powerful Diana the Huntress. The collection clearly embraces the power of athletics, and ready-to-wear revives silhouettes from Dior’s Sport line, which first launched in 1962.

Garments are part fashion, part function, with some bearing a sporty two-toned Dior print pulled from the archives dating back to the 1970s. The motif can be seen throughout the collection, cheekily on sleeves or more overtly on the backs and shoulders of other pieces.

Sport Sacs and Lady Bags

The same motif appears on bags throughout the collection, which also draws on the technical side of the collection. Nylon and leather sacks are shown slung on models’ backs, and the same shape also appears in Dior’s Oblique Canvas. A blast from the past makes its grand return this spring too, with the Dior Columbus Bag, an early 2000s favorite, showing up on the runway with a longer strap.

Meanwhile, a new leather bowler with cargo pockets sits alongside classics like the Lady Dior and the Saddle Bag. Those shapes tie back to the ready-to-wear that leaned more towards night than day, like classic tulle gowns and embellished skirts worn over bodysuits, combining the elevated with the everyday.
