Big Bags and Balletcore Ruled the Runway at Ferragamo for Spring 2025

The elegance and art of ballet were a tremendous source of inspiration for Salvatore Ferragamo over the years. Now, with Maximilian Davis at the brand’s helm, ballet as a creative inspiration returns to the forefront of the brand’s design ethos.

After reinterpreting the iconic Ferragamo ballet flat, Davis further studied the House’s archives and its longstanding history with ballet for the Spring 2025 collection. Now a handful of seasons into his appointment at the Heritage House, Davis further explores the brand’s history while making it his own, offering a fresh take on refined classics.

Dancer Off Duty

Ready-to-wear features distinct and unmistakable nods to ballet wear, such as the wrap tops and leotards traditionally worn during warmups and practice. Trenches and technical jackets worn over leggings channel a dancer off-duty, while ballooned silhouettes nod to the freedom of expression and movement of dance. Footwear further amplifies the collection’s roots in dance, with pumps featuring silk lace-up ribbons tied up the calf.

As for the bags, the big bag reigned supreme once again on the runway this season, with the House’s iconic Hug bag reconstructed and given a soft new look. Slouchy was another theme, with a new supple silhouette making its debut, defined by a pierced metal Gancini. Another interesting new shape is a soft suede hobo that features a distinct Gancini leather chain.
