If you want to add some pizzaz to your scrapbook layouts then try using Mixed Media techniques and take your ideas to the next level. So, what is mixed media? Simply put it’s really a combination of using two or more materials otherwise known as mediums. So you can combine products like ink, paint and glitter or techniques like stenciling, stamping or sewing on the same canvas or in our case a scrapbook layout. Monique created an amazing background for her Aquarium layout. She inked Distress Inks, adding shimmer sprays and stamped “bubbles” with bubble wrap for the background. This wonderful summertime layout from Anastasiia focuses on greens and red with a watermelon theme. She designed a + plus sign with paper strips and rub-ons then built her design up around it with chipboard frames, fussy cut images popped up with foam, dots made with Nuvo Drops and paint splatter. This darling mixed media layout from Julie has a bold wash of color on the background from Distress Oxide inks and water. And last but certainly not least Paula took her mixed media off the page and onto a beautiful shadow box project. The box is painted with paint and the inside is lined with paper strips with walnut stain added. She covered a thick wooden arch in paper and colored the images with Distress Markers, layering it in the box with scalloped trims.
