Introduced in the Fall Winter 2023 Collection, the Hermes Kelly Bag has become the new “it” thing in the fashion world. Chanel simply named this bag the “Mini Shopping Bag,” but social media and fashion fanatics have taken the situation into their own hands. They named it the “Kelly Bag.”

This name was also given because some people thought that the bag looks similar to the Hermes Kelly Bag, but I don’t think it’s similar at all. It actually looks more like the Chanel Kelly Bag from 1997.

The fame of this bag rose as fast as the Coco Handle Bag. As soon as the bag hit the stores, people were running to get one. The black color was usually sold out. The Kelly Bag was so successful that Chanel decided to release the bag again in future collections. Now it’s also available in different materials.

We think the Chanel Kelly Bag will rival the Hermes Kelly Bag. The bag has joined as one of the house’s permanent collections.

On the left, you can see the Chanel Kelly Bag from 2017. On the right, you can see the new Chanel Kelly Bag from 2023. These two handbags are very similar. Chanel named the new bag “Mini Shopping Bag,” but the community decided to call it “The Kelly Bag,” and this is the very reason why.

Both versions look quite similar, especially the front flap. The 2023 Kelly Bag is made from diamond quilting, it has the CC logo like the Classic Flap Bag, and it’s larger. But there is not much difference in the trapezoid shape.
