How to Make A Gift Bouquet

Learn how to turn just about any gift into a showy and festive gift bouquet.

Today I’m sharing a DIY gift wrapping idea that turns everyday, ordinary items into really fun and showy gifts. You can give just about ANYTHING using this method and make it look really good. Let me walk you through what you’ll need for this craft as well as every step to achieve a beautiful, professional looking gift bouquet.

Let’s start with the supplies.

You can buy all of the supplies for this craft at pretty much any craft store or even Dollar Tree or Walmart. I am partial to Hobby Lobby because they have patterned poster board and really cute tissue paper and ribbon.

I thought I would want to use sticks to attach the gifts together, but I found them unnecessary for the most part. I think you could skip this step for most gifts. If you’re giving something like socks, you may want to wrap them around a stick, then tape the sticks to the poster board since tape wouldn’t really stick to fabric, you know?

Instructions

Step 1: Cut a piece of poster board in half so that you have a piece that measures about 14″ x 22″.

Step 2: Arrange whatever gift item you are wrapping along the top short edge and either tape the sticks to back of each gift, then to the poster board -OR- skip the sticks and tape the gifts directly to the poster board. I think in most cases you could skip the sticks, don’t you? Unless you’re gifting something that just can’t be taped directly, I say simplify! Try to arrange the items in a pleasing way, staggering their height and spacing in whatever way looks good to you.

Step 3: Evenly roll the two bottom corners together to form a cone shape. Use a piece of packing tape on the back to hold it together this way.

Step 4: Cut a square of cellophane and lay the bouquet on top of the square at a diagonal. Fold down the top edge to line up with the flat top of the bouquet, then fold up the bottom point of the cellophane until it touches the tip of the cone. Tape it into place.

Step 5: Bring the right edge of the cellophane inward until it lines up with the edge of the cone, then crease the outer edge down. Fold the top right corner in and tuck it behind the cone. Try to match the angle of the inner part of the cone. Wrap this piece around and secure with a piece of tape. Repeat on the left side. If this seems confusing, watch the video below. That may help.

Step 6: Place a pretty piece of tissue paper in to the cone and arrange it so all the little corners stick up nicely. This tissue paper is decorative and it helps fill in the space in this part of the cone.

Step 7: Add a ribbon and tie a pretty bow. I had to use hot glue to tack this satin ribbon down in the back and the front to keep it from slipping down the cone.

Step 8: Anything at this point is optional and purely for looks, but you can add embellishments, tags, whatever you think would be cute. I stuck a few sprigs of faux lavender in between my protein bars just because they’re pretty.

And there you have it…. a protein bar bouquet.

(I did use the wooden sticks for these ones… rolled up the sock and tied it with twine, put the stick in the middle of the roll, taped the stick to the poster board)

You can even change the size and make a little bitty bouquet with a piece of 12×12 cardstock or a humongous one with a full sheet of poster board! All of the bouquets so far have measured about 22 inches tall.
