Make a clever DIY t-shirt or tote bag inspired by the movie You’ve Got Mail using this cut file in SVG and PNG formats.
You’ve Got Mail is one of my favorite movies ever. The banter, the chemistry, the giddy joy when they meet on the bridge. *Sigh* It’s just THE BEST!
I thought it would be fun to design a shirt with a subtle reference to the movie, so I made this design and I’m sharing it with you today! It’s really fun to wear out and about because people who love the movie totally get it and people who don’t love the movie just think it’s a regular bookstore t-shirt. It’s fun to find fellow fans.
I threw in a couple of Easter Eggs into the photo above too, did you notice? A computer obvs, a book, daisies (the happiest flower) and freshly sharpened pencils. Eek. This is me nerding out about a movie. LOL.
To make your own You’ve Got Mail shirt, here’s what you’ll need to do.
- Download the design at the bottom of this post.
- Open the design in Silhouette Studio or Cricut Design Space.
- Mirror the design and adjust cut settings for heat transfer vinyl.
- Load your HTV into your machine and cut out the design.
- Weed. (That means to remove all the excess vinyl that isn’t part of your design)
- Center the design on your shirt with the clear carrier sheet on top. Cover the design with a flour sack towel or Heat Transfer Cover Sheet.
- Use a heat press or iron without steam to apply the HTV at 305 degrees for 10-15 seconds
- Let it cool, then peel away the plastic carrier sheet.
This would also be the cutest book bag in the world. Same process, just add the HTV vinyl to a blank canvas tote.
