Excitement is building in the handbag community as news of the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami 20th anniversary collaboration circulates. With fresh details emerging, LV lovers can look forward to a series of exclusive drops throughout the year, starting with the iconic Monogram Multicolor collection in January 2025.
The celebrated partnership began in 2002 when then-creative director Marc Jacobs joined forces with artist Takashi Murakami for Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection. What started with the iconic Monogram Multicolor line of bags and small leather goods evolved into a 12-year-long collaboration. This enduring partnership remains the longest in Louis Vuitton’s history with any artist. As the 20th anniversary of this partnership nears, its revival is all the more exciting for LV enthusiasts, both old and new.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming launch in 2025. . .
Mark Your Calendars for Murakami Monogram
The highly anticipated Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection will launch exclusively within the women’s grouping, ranging from handbags and small leather goods to footwear and collector’s items like skateboards and trunks.
While this collection harkens back to the iconic Y2K designs, very few replicas of the original releases are included. Instead, the collection showcases reimagined favorites and newer Louis Vuitton designs infused with these iconic prints. Expect to see fresh takes on the beloved Monogram Multicolor, Cherry Blossom, Panda, and Cherry collections. There are nods to the original designs, but they are few and far between, offering a fresh take on Murakami’s collaboration with the brand. To celebrate this 20th-anniversary collection, each item will feature a leather tag or stamp, distinguishing it from the original vintage pieces.
The collection will be released in three major drops throughout the year. As expected, these pieces will come with a premium price tag. For example, the iconic Monogram Multicolor Pochette Accessoires is expected to retail for $2,100 – substantially higher than its original 2003 price of around $450. Currently, Louis Vuitton is not accepting pre-orders for the Murakami collection, but we expect this to change soon.
Monogram Multicolor
Arguably the most iconic collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami, the Monogram Multicolor design—beloved by Y2K icons like Paris Hilton—is making a comeback. This expansive collection is set to drop on January 2, 2025, marking the new year’s first major release.
Bags will be available in Black and White canvas with the Multicolore treatment – including the Pochette Accessoires, Nano Speedy, Speedy 25, Keepall 45, and Dog Carrier. Many designs will be exclusively released in one colorway, with only a selection offered in both Black and White Monogram canvas.
When it comes to SLGS, the collection will feature favorites like the Zippy Coin Purse, Porte Carte Simple, Pochette Cosmetique, Poche Toilet, Pochette Cles, and Passport Cover, with plenty more items on the way. There will be footwear too, alongside hair accessories, hats, and much, much more.
Cherry Blossom
Set to hit boutiques in March, the Cherry Blossom collection revives the beloved 2003 series, albeit with a more limited range than the new Monogram Multicolor lineup. Expected bags include the Twist, Capucines, Neverfull MM, Speedy 20, Alma, and OnTheGo, alongside reimagined styles from the original collection such as the Pochette Accessoires and Papillon.
In addition to bags, the collection will feature hard-sided pieces, including trunks, vanity cases, and luggage like the Horizon 55 and Rolling Trunk. And footwear will get the blossom treatment – including sneakers, sandals, slingbacks, and kitten heels – alongside SLGs, jewelry, and other accessories.
Panda
Also in March 2025, we’re likely to see the return of the Panda design. Originally launched in 2004, the Panda motif is making its comeback on bags like the Monogram Empreinte Keepall 45, Pochette Accessoires, Capucines BB, Petite Malle, Neverfull, and Speedy 20.
For SLGs, the Panda will feature on items like the Passport Cover and Porte Carte Simple, with more releases expected. In addition, there will be sunglasses and other accessories showcasing this playful Panda, rounding out this collection.
Cherry
The final big drop is slated to arrive in late May or early June, with the highly coveted Cherry collection. Notably, this series will feature three distinct cherry designs – the original brown Monogram with cherries, the white Monogram, and a reimagined denim version inspired by the Marc Jacobs 2003 denim collection, reinterpreted with the iconic cherry print.
Leaning away from travel, this grouping provides the cherry on top of your daily life with a range of every companion, including the Twist, Capucines, Neverfull MM, Speedy 20, Alma, OnTheGo, Soft Speedy 30, and Side Trunk.
In addition to the bags, expect a range of accessories including SLGs and jewelry, with more details on these pieces to be revealed closer to the launch.
Superflat Floral
Alongside these iconic designs, Murakami’s signature Superflat Floral design will adorn a handful of bags and accessories, including the Speedy 20, Neverfull MM, Keepall 45, and Petite Malle.
Tell us – are you planning to invest in these reimagined Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami pieces, or are you still on the hunt for the original vintage designs? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
